I currently have some products, I'm not interested in continuing to buy them, do to any potential legal risk, which seem quite scary to me. But I dont want to throw away the ones i have now. I was thinking about adding to the items, to distinguish trade dress. Such as the originals are all black, so I was thinking I may paint all my items. and i understand shape is an issue as well so I was thinking I would try to finds some distinct component to add to the product so that It would be more obviously different. And I was wondering does trade dress apply since the function of the item I have is different, just for the airsoft market as opposed to firearms. Thank you very much for your response, It's given me a lot to think about regarding research whenever i buy new inventory.

You need to stop buying and selling these fakes. You could try to salvage this, but as for how much you have to alter these knockoffs to ensure or even minimize the risk of being sued is something only your own IP lawyer can advise you about.

Yes you are right, I intend to leave the topic alone all summer to see what developments arise, but can i destroy current inventory, or can I hold onto them?
