When you state above that, "Unless you are in business and have numerous clients, you have little chance of independence holding up", who is the "you", you are referring to in said statement?? Employment agencies, client companies, employees, or someone else??? Let me know. Thanks again for your help!

In the King's English, "you" refers to the sender of the message. I doubt that it was sent by an employment agency or a client company, who would not be employees in any case. Which one are you? Would you be happier if I had said "Unless one is in business . . .etc."
