Hello and thank you for your response.
My grandma was named the guardian but is now deceased since I am her only daughter I just figured rights would automatically be given to me if I have the death certificate and also am her only child. Would that not be the case?

Nothing happens automatically. The court will want to be assured that you are a fit and proper person for the job. You need an elder law attorney to assist you. Since a guardianship was already in place, at least you shouldn't have much trouble establishing her incapacity.
