Light, what probably happened is after they did not get any payments for four months, they closed your account selling your debt to a collection agency or another creditor.
Try checking some of the other credit reporting agencies to see what other debts you have that you didn't three months ago.

I see, I missed that last sentence about the court summons. My apologies.
A basic fact, but you cannot pay more than you can pay. If you cannot pay the entire balance, send them some money. As long as you make payments, most creditors and courts will understand. If they have already gotten a default judgment, but this is the first you heard of it, you may have some options to clear the default judgment from your record. Bring all the paperwork you have on the matter to a lawyer and let them look at it. Again, a negotiated settlement may be your best option to keep from hurting your credit record.
