It's probably quicker for you, as the patient, to get the records-a request from a lawyer tends to send up a red flag. Get a complete copy of the hospital records (relating to the birth and any treatment for the injuries) and complete OB's records. Pictures will also be necessary to evaluate the injury.

No I dont feel that it is improving. Would you suggest that I get medical records before contacting you or other legal counsel?
