Ms. McCall is a fabulous attorney whom I respect considerably. However, my experience has been just the opposite of hers. I have represented several clients in your situation and have had success in each one of them. Part of the negotiation with the employer must include a discussion of how to approach the offending co-worker. If this is done respectfully and tactfully, it need not harm the employees' working relationship. In fact, in at least two of my cases, the working relationship improved.

More and more, I am seeing "no scent" advisories on promotional materials. I believe people are increasingly aware of the wide-range of disabling conditions in the world. Sure, plenty of discrimination remains, but I truly see a better understanding.

Still, I appreciate Ms. McCall's view from the employer's perspective, something we need on this site for a well rounded response to the issue.
