Professionals do budgets. I would budget for the worst case, each appearance 6 hours. I would budget for research at a lesser amount. I would mediate each dispute. I would revise my budget every time I saved e or some unexpected issue arose. I would estimate drafting a pleading at x hours and if I pick my nose for an hour would not charge for it. I would have a contingency budget for the unexpected, and I would listen to my client, return his calls, not take bs calls from the other side and not loose my client's file or take on a client that I did not have time for. I would not go to court unprepared, and if we loose I would make it up for free.
I would not kiss the Judges ass and forget about my client's welfare.
Most of all I would admit that not even God is worth more than $100 per hour.
And I would not take offense when someone asks me to justify my fee, as if I were of a superior class.
