New York City's Illegal Eviction Law provides:
NYC Administrative Code § 26-521. Unlawful eviction.
a. It shall be unlawful for any person to evict or attempt to evict an occupant of a dwelling unit who has lawfully occupied the dwelling unit for thirty consecutive days or longer or who has entered into a lease with respect to such dwelling unit ...

Should I go to the Police and let them know what is going on just in case he tries to come with them tomorrow at 4pm?

OK. I cannot tell you what to do. I am not your attorney. The answer said: "You should check with Cohoes Police Department to verify the landlord's information to you."

Note: New York State Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law Section 711 states in the Preamble when a landlord must use the summary proceeding to evict a tenant:
"§ 711. Grounds where landlord-tenant relationship exists. A tenant shall include an occupant of one or more rooms in a rooming house or a resident, not including a transient occupant, of one or more rooms in a hotel who has been in possession for thirty consecutive days or longer; he shall not be removed from possession except in a special proceeding.
