By the way - I do not agree with the other comments on this question - your young spouse should not leave the U.S. for processing - she does not need to do that. She can adjust status under the PIP program. After that she may even be eligible for U.S. citizenship if you are assigned to a duty station overseas under INA 319(b). This is termed "expedited citizenship." There is no residency requirement under this provision - she only needs to adjust status first.
