This will depend on state law, and I don't know NV law, but generally the underinsured policy gets a credit for the amount paid by the underlying policy. Now, if your friend had what's known as "conversion" coverage, that credit doesn't apply and your friend can get the full amount of her policy. at least that's how it works here. I don't know your policy specifics or your state's particular law, however.

You can get up to the full amount of the underinsured policy in NV.

Thank you both for your comments. Not that I think they are going to come up this high, but I'm curious why it would be up to 75K from my policy when my limit is 100k? My friend who was in the accident with me and ended up having back surgery did collect both the 25K from the first party insurance and the full 100K from my insurance.
