That would be because you are focusing on a fact that does not have the legal consequence that you think it does. You have to prove that you are the owner to obtain title, not that no one else is shown by the county to be the owner. Adverse possession is one way that you can prove ownership now no matter who owned the property before.

All the answers I received made no mention of the fact there is no legal owner of record for the property. County records show no owner and a parcel # 777-77-777.
