Thank you for answering so quickly. Some more info: I am moving to another state for work, the landlord replied on the day of notice that he cannot relieve me of the lease and I will have to pay the rent for the remainder of the auto-renewed (assumed 1 year) lease.

Also, is it true that CT is one of the states that requires the LL to notify the tenant prior to the auto-renewal date (besides having the signed lease)?

I don't recall a statute, but between chasing you in another state and you fooling a job, I don't think he would win
