James, it is almost certainly the same nefarious outfit you think it is. Secondly in infamy only to ISC (renamed ironically "InventHelp" to try to escape their well deserved infamy as Invention Submission Company) and also from Pittsburgh. Davison's gimmick historically has been to say the inventor needs to pay Davison around $10K for a prototype and that is more important than filing for a patent. I have several such prototypes victims have left with me over the years. Some are so ridiculous as to be hysterical, such as a portable CrockPot "powered" by two AA batteries. Didn't need a patent, according to them, because "Rival would buy the idea in a heartbeat" and besides there was already a patent on a better one that plugged into an auto cigarette lighter socket and which would be infringed so the important thing would be the "trademark" (Rival suggested a good name would be "Redneck Crockpot" because it must be a joke.)
Anyway, it's interesting that you were the only one (other than me) to recognize the name Davison for what it, unfortunately, still is.
