Thank you for responding. I am in a huge legal mess due to all of this, expecting to SOMEDAY collect a settlement . My lawyer ( who has not wanted to get involved in my credit woes, says it would be a mistake for me to declare bankruptcy before a settlement comes in because an outside party would have to step in a take control of all of these funds, should they ever come to be. He says I run the risk of getting almost nothing when all is said and done if I go the bankruptcy route. ( By the way, I have no one to consign anything for me . )

there's not much I can tell you. If you have a lawyer, I would ask that person.
