I completely agree with this comment. A lot of attorneys simply do not understand what a contempt action truly is or the differences between them. It is important because the different types of contempt actions require different types of evidence, standards of proof, and carry with them different penalties. Again, anytime you are subjected to a contempt that may involve being involuntarily held, you should be entitled to a public defender or court appointed counsel if you cannot afford your own attorney.
