I have done a lot of work with noncompete/nonsolicitation agreements over the years. As stated by others above, the inquiry must begin with a review of your specific contract. You may have no problem, or you may be barred. There are both statutes and cases that govern. Some courts have upheld agreements that comply with Texas law. Generally, I would say that you are better off seeking help before a situation arises.
