I've been thinking about this question since I wrote the answer. I'm an attorney but I wouldn't hire anyone in a criminal case, immigration, bankruptcy, or workers comp case because I don't work in those areas. I wouldn't cut my own hair or do electrical or plumbing work in my house. If you care about your personal injury case, you should hire an attorney.
