The decedent died in June of 2009 and the estate was to be closed in July of 2010 since the fate of the house was decided at that time. It did not get finalized until now. It could have been closed anywhere between when it was sold and until now. That part is up to how quick the lawyer is and the standard time for an estate to close once a decision is made. That is kind of out of my hands.

Consider speaking with Mr. Fromm as he practices regularly in PA.

Overall, it seems the fees are quite excessive. Overall between the two, it seems $18K should have wrapped everything up. It seems you are being overcharged by $5K easily.

The executor said the he was not going to be taking a fee that he just wanted to be reimbursed for traveling up there. But on the accoutning it says he got $5000 plus his travel expenses.
On top of the attorney fee for the estate I also see that anohter law firm got $3711. It does not say what the charge is for. I think they did the actual accounting of the estate I could be wrong. So add that plus the $15k.
