Hartford is located directly between New York City and Boston. The Indians native to the area named it a term that means “black earth” in English.

Known as the “Insurance Capital of the World,” Hartford houses many monuments from city history. The oldest historical landmarks in town are the First Church of Christ and Ancient Burying Ground.

A house that existed in the late 1700s is still a homestead museum in town, and saw 4 generations grow up there. Everyone can enjoy these landmarks of Connecticut, as they are run by a nonprofit preservation group.
